Our Financial Aid staff is committed to helping every student find a financial plan that works for them. Whether you are paying in cash or applying for student loans or grants, we've helped many students just like you. Financial Aid is available for those who qualify.

Blue Cliff College can also finance a portion of the program tuition for qualified students. A variety of financial plans are available, depending on the length of the chosen program and the amount of the student's initial payment. Blue Cliff College participates in the following Federal Financial Aid Programs:

Federal Pell Grant
Federally funded grants are awarded to those who qualify. Students use the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to apply and should submit the application to the Financial Aid Office at the College.

Academic Competitive Grant
The Academic Competitiveness Grant was made available for the first time for the 2006-2007 school year for first-year college students who graduated from high school after January 1, 2006, and for second-year college students who graduated from high school after January 1, 2005. Students use the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to apply and should submit the application to the Financial Aid Office at the College. A rigorous high school curriculum is required to receive this grant. Please contact the Financial Aid Office at a campus near you to assist you with this grant.

William D. Ford Federal Direct Loan (Direct Loan) Program (subsidized & unsubsidized)
Direct Subsidized and Unsubsidized loans are for students with demonstrated financial need, as determined by the federal regulations. No Interest is charged while you are in school at least half-time, during your grace period and during deferment periods. Direct Unsubsidized Loans are not based on financial need; interest is charged during all periods. The FAFSA is required to apply for the Direct Subsidized and Unsubsidized loan at Blue Cliff College.

William D. Ford Federal Direct Parent (PLUS) Loan
Direct PLUS Loans are low interest loans available to parents of dependent students or for graduate/professional degree students. Interest is charged during all periods. A FAFSA is not required when applying for this loan.

Federal Direct Consolidation Loans
Students who have educational loans may apply for a consolidation loan upon graduation or withdrawal from the College. Information regarding Consolidation Loans will be provided during your exit interview. If you have questions prior to the exit interview, contact the College's Financial Aid Office.

The College also is eligible to participate in other financial aid assistance programs. These are the Workforce Investment Act, U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, and the State Vocational Rehabilitation services. Students who are interested in these programs should contact these agencies directly to see if they qualify. Contact information can be obtained from the Financial Aid Office.

TOPS Scholarship Program
TOPS (Taylor Opportunity Program for Students) is a program of state scholarships for Louisiana residents who attend either one of the Louisiana Public Colleges and Universities, schools that are a part of the Louisiana Community and Technical College System, Louisiana approved Proprietary and Cosmetology Schools or institutions that are a part of the Louisiana Association of Independent Colleges and Universities.

Tops Tech Guidelines

Who is eligible for TOPS?
  • ACT score 17-19
  • High School GPA =>2.50*
  • Specified High School Courses
  • Receives a TOPS AWARD Letter
  • FAFSA by July 1st of High School Grad Year

  • Award:
  • Eligible only for Technical Programs
  • Two Year Award

  • How Much?
  • AY 2010 Amount: $1,012 year / $253 a quarter

  • Students must maintain full-time enrollment and meet Satisfactory Academic Progress according to our School’s Federal Definition.

    Also, they must complete 24 hours per AY and achieve Tops Tech GPA of 2.50* or higher of each term. Tops pays for students enrolled FULL TIME at the close of the 14th class day of each TOPS term.

    The Students must be enrolled full-time: September 1st, December 1st, March 1st, and June 1st.




    * If a student doesn’t meet SAP or GPA 2.50 or higher, the student will be placed on suspension.
      The student has within 12 months to regain GPA & SAP but if not the TOPS Tech will
      be canceled.
